To obtain an A1 license you must pass the Compulsory Base Training (CBT) and pass a theory test and an exam that is two-parts. The CBT course is essential for motorcycle training, and can help prepare for the practical and theory tests. For your A1 test, you will need to be accompanied by an experienced motorcycle instructor. The test will last around 20 minutes and will comprise of modules 1 and 2. Module 1 is located in the training centre and will focus on off-road maneuvers like controlled stops, a slalom, and a figure of eight. The remainder of your test will be on the road, and will focus on how well you can control a motorbike while it is moving at high speeds.
Module 2 will be focused on riding a motorcycle through traffic and navigating intersections. You will be assessed on how well you can follow road signs, and comprehend and apply the laws of the road. You will be required to demonstrate your skills at low speeds, and to perform slow control exercises, such as turning left and riding up and down hills or a U-turn.
Once you have successfully completed your A1 licence, you'll be eligible to upgrade to the A2 licence after passing your CBT, Theory and Practical Tests. You will then be able to operate any A2 category bike, and can carry passengers.
A2 Licence
The A2 Licence is the second step in the process of getting a full motorcycle licence. The A2 licence can be obtained at the age of 19 years old with a valid CBT course and is a limited version of the full motorcycle licence. The A2 license permits you to ride motorbikes with a maximum power of 47 BHP. However, motorcycles with more than this are only permitted to 94 BHP.
If you choose to go the A2 route, you'll be required to pass Module 1 and Module 2 of your motorcycle test. Both tests can be booked at the same place you make your CBT booking or the theory test. The first module of the A2 motorcycle test is an indoor exercise where you will be taught how to control your bike, including emergency stops and slow speed maneuvering. A3 Licence
The A2 Licence allows riders to move up to larger bikes that have more power. It also offers extra perks that aren't available with the CBT, such as riding on motorways and transporting passengers. You can upgrade from CBT to the A2 licence through additional training and passing the relevant exam. The A2 license is valid for two years, and can be upgraded to a full, unlimited A licence after two years.
The first step towards obtaining your A2 licence is to be able to pass the Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) and Motorcycle Theory Test. Once you have completed these requirements, you will be able to take the Module 1 and Module 2 practical tests. The module 1 practical test involves demonstrating your ability to ride safely in a closed-circuit, while the module 2 test consists of manoeuvres on an open road.

The A1 and A2 licences are different from the rest of the motorbike licenses since they are governed by the power-to-weight ratio, not engine cc's. This means that even 600cc bikes are A2 certified, particularly when they have restrictor kits installed. A4 Licence
